Playstation 2 Launches in Brazil

ps2_brazil_580

Let us be the first to welcome Brazil into the year 2000. The world’s gamers have been enjoying Sony
’s PlayStation 2 since that year, but it is just now arriving in Brazil. Sure it’s been available to Brazilians by unofficial means, but not in any legit way.

If you live in Brazil, you can now enjoy last-generation’s game console champion for just 799 BRL, which translates to roughly $461 in US coin. We don’t see this flying off of Brazilian shelves. Do you?

Now instead of paying outrageous black market prices, they can pay Sony an outrageous price directly.

Super Smash Bros. to Wii VC

main-img-140x120Super Mario Kart, Pilotwings and Super Smash Bros. are all on their way to the Wii Virtural Console.  This Monday will see the appearance of Super Mario Kart (SNES) on the service.  Super Smash Bros. (N64) and Pilotwings (SNES) will be released sometime this holiday season.

I gotta get on this Wii VC game, because I have had a Wii forever but have just been buying Gamecube games at the local video game shop in the used section to get my nostalgia gaming on.  Where the hell have I been they have Tecmo Bowl on this thing.  I know where all my holiday time is going to be spent.  I gotta introduce my children to some of these games.  I am excited for Super Mario Kart, but Super Smash Bros. really only got good during the Gamecube era and I have to say I have never played Pilotwings.  I may have to hand in some sort of gaming rep card by having never played though.

Nintendo’s Virtual Console is making the greatest video game archive in history available for Wii. Download many of your favorite NES, SNES, N64, Arcade, Commodore 64, NEOGEO, Sega Genesis, Sega Master System and TurboGrafx 16 titles and relive those happy memories all over again on Wii.

SAW: Playstation 3 Review

05-300x187

The original SAW film still remains one of my all time favourite horror films, heck even the 2nd one was pretty good. Everything after that I can’t even remember so it is no surprise to see the franchises popularity start to dwindle. Well Konami has seen fit to release a game, based around the end of the first film which starred Danny Glover as Detective Tapp chasing down Jigsaw. Konami have long been recognised as producing horror game greats like the Silent Hill series, so what has happened here?

SAW is kind of a mishmash of Silent Hill and other horror titles. You play the game in third person perspective right from the beginning. At the start of the game you find yourself inside a room with one of Jigsaw’s devices attached to your head, it will trigger soon so you have to get it off. You do this by rotating the left thumbstick and pressing the right button that shows up on screen. While the game starts off quite well, you soon realise that this “button pressing at the right time” happens far far too often.
